Emotional Effects of Fraud
Fraud deals an esteem-crushing blow
that will leave the strongest person
immobilized in a depressive funk!
If Fraud Attack has occurred you have been bruised and possibly ruined in a place you once believed you were invulnerable! Fraud Attack undermines your self-worth! The strongest person can shatter under ordinary betrayal but this somehow has the ability to make you feel as though you have betrayed yourself. As you seek help or at least a comforting word of support from family, friends, or peers you may realize there are few who can simply comfort you. Each time you share your plight with someone the listener instinctively places themselves in your shoes, only to defensively retort, "Well what are you? - stupid? - this could never happen to me!" Everyone believes they are immune to such deception, until it happens to them! No one wants to believe they could fall for such a scam, especially you! And yet people are falling for scams every day. Who knew it could happen so easily?
This self-defensive and unsupportive babble from trusted acquaintances is the tip of an ice berg that can and will sink your emotional ship. If it triggers you into self-judgment, you, the Titanic, is going down! And what is worse the more you think about this whole issue, the more you will psychologically mutiny against yourself. This is the beginning of a very deep hole of depression as you can come to believe that you must be the most brainless person in the world. YOU ARE NOT! You simply made a mistake. Granted, it was a big mistake, but you must divorce that momentary action from you, the whole person. You are not your mistake! You, the person and the action are two different things. YOU MUST CONTINUE TO LIKE AND RESPECT YOURSELF!
You will not need to join the list of potential accusers, there will be enough condescending and judgmental people lining up to pursue you. On the contrary, in order to survive through this Fraud Attack ordeal you will need to draw on the lifetime of experience that you have always prided and the past track record of the person you truly are. You deserve to be defended. You must still believe in that person to stand in your truth and be able to mount a proper defense. You must create a recovery team and the very first member of that team must be you. And you can not be an effective member of your defense team if your own self-belief is undermined.
Do not Mutiny against yourself!
Remember who you are regardless of what the Fraud Attack has done to implicate you!
